Dolphin Quest has a number of programs for children. These programs range from educational to actually getting up close and meeting a dolphin in their environment. Please tell us what a child can experience with one of your special dolphin encounters?
Dolphin Quest offers many exciting programs and activities for children of all ages including in-water and dockside dolphin interactions, seasonal camps, birthday parties and more. These programs are educational and fun and are one of a kind in Bermuda.
There are three main dolphin encounter programs that Dolphin Quest offers. The Ultimate Adventure encounter is for ages five and older, and it allows guests to swim alongside dolphins using underwater scooters in the lagoon waters. The Encounter program is for ages eight and older, and it brings guests close to dolphins in both the deeper waters as well as from the submersible bench. The Discover Dolphins program is for ages three and older and takes place from the submersible platform giving children and parents the opportunity to say ‘Hello’ to dolphins, touch them, feed them and more. In addition to the three main encounter programs, Dolphin Quest offers dockside encounters where children can meet a dolphin without getting in the water and get their photo taken with dolphins as well.
Dolphin Quest’s Dol-Fun Kids camps take place in spring, summer, and fall. These week-long day camps feature in-water dolphin encounters as well as fun games, crafts, science experiments, cool gifts and more. Dolphin Quest also offers birthday party programs for ages 5 – 12, which are great for celebrating with a group and each party can have a dolphin, shark, turtle or pirate theme.
Are there any other interesting marine animals that children can discover at Dolphin Quest?
Children not only have the opportunity to meet and learn about dolphins at Dolphin Quest, but they can also see a wide range of plants and animals. At least 38 different animals call the Dolphin Quest lagoon home.
One of the smallest animals living in the lagoon is the feather-duster worm. These amazing creatures are well named; they look just like a very small old-fashioned feather duster. The worm lives in a small tube no bigger than ¾ of an inch across. They are beautiful to admire, but there are other eye catching species living in the Dolphin Quest lagoon.
Challenger is a green sea turtle who is nearing his 20th birthday and weigh almost 200 pounds. He was hatched here on the island at the Bermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo where six of his brothers and sisters live. Kids can meet Challenger and other residents of Dolphin Quest Bermuda in encounter programs and camp programs.
The Sergeant Major is a common sight in the lagoon as well. These fish live in groups and it is very rare to see just one. They have five parallel black stripes running vertically down their sides and the rest of the area is bright yellow. The Sergeant Major is a great resource for our green sea turtle as they keep them clean and parasite free!
Dolphin Quest Bermuda is a great place for everyone to experience, learn and enjoy the underwater world.  A portion of the proceeds from Dolphin Quest supports vital marine education, conservation and research.
Dolphin Quest Bermuda is located at The Bermuda Maritime Museum. For more information, call Dolphin Quest at 234-4464 or visit dolphinquest.com to inquire about any of the fun offerings for children of all ages!
