Rickeisha Burgess Sits down with Scott Hill My job title is Bar Manager, but really it should be Social Entrepreneur, which more closely fits what I do at the Frog & Onion Pub and Restaurant. Apart from pouring pints of our very own beer which we brew right on the premises and having to remember the recipes of hundreds of fancy cocktails, including our signature cocktail The Frogsicle, my main responsibility is in keeping our customers fully satisfied, entertained and well-informed. Due to our location in Historic Dockyard, we cater to both locals and tourists including thousands of cruise ship passengers. The locals love coming to us because our staff is like a big family and we are a constant source of entertainment. As a Bermudian, I have a vast knowledge of Bermuda’s offerings and love to chat to the tourists offering them advice on places to visit, what to eat and events not to be missed. There are many different types of vacationers coming to visit us so I’m always meeting new and interesting people, which is one of the reasons I love working at the Frog & Onion. We also provide entertainment, which varies from day to day and month to month. As Bar Manager, I’m generally responsible for making sure the bar is operating efficiently and working in sync with the restaurant. This takes careful co-ordination, which I would say, is my strongest attribute to the job. If you are thinking of popping in to the Frog, don’t think, just come in and say Hi. If you have any special requests I will do my best to meet your wishes. You will find me very friendly and if you’re lucky you may catch me singing along to the entertainment.
