I was born and raised in Malaysia, and came to Bermuda as a chef over twenty years ago. My first passion was in the culinary arts, and later I began my career in the visual arts with classes at the Bermuda College and extensive art workshops in Myrtle Beach, SC, USA. During my artistic journey, I have shown my work in numerous solo and group exhibitions on the island, including the Bacardi Biennial at the Bermuda National Gallery. I enjoy working in different media, and use a variety of subject matter to explore my vocabulary.
Well, I was given the opportunity to become the first artist to exhibit a solo show at the WINDJAMMER II GALLERY in Hamilton Princess Hotel on the 4th March 2010. The exhibition runs for two weeks and it opens for the public from the 5th March. Windjammar gallery is the only commercial art gallery on the island and it runs by the artist Sheilagh Head. The door opens from 10am - 5pm [ Tue- Fri] 12pm -5pm [ Sat & Sun ]. I consider myself as a conceptual artist because I paint how I feel and not what I see. It doesn’t matter representational or non objective work , I always want them to be sensitive, emotion, and yet have strong feeling. In this exhibition, they are19 pieces in watercolour on paper. It divided into five series of abstract landscape. This series of landscape was based on my interpretation of the lush and high intensity environment of Bermuda. I used rich orange, red and warm colour to intensify my expression. Therefore, I name the title of this exhibition as “
