. . . About the changing logo of the Princess Hotel?

During the late 1800’s most Bermuda hotels and guest houses used images of
their properties on their stationery. This was obviously an inexpensive way
to advertise themselves.

Shown above is the Princess Hotel logo on an envelope mailed in the late 1880’s. As
the Princess Hotel gained popularity in the 1890’s, the logo shown below was enlarged and improved.

By 1900 the Princess Hotel had expanded substantially on the eastern
end and that change is shown on the logo of the early 1900’s.

During the 1920’s the Princess Hotel experimented with illustrations other than the building in their logo design.

Shown above is a logo showing several islands in the harbour, perhaps a stylized view from the famous Princess terrace, and below a rather elegant design which includes
a Bermuda Easter lily.

During the 1930’s a crown appeared for the first time in a Princess Hotel logo.

Towards the end of Leo Tworoger’s term as manager of the Princess Hotel in the late 1930’s, an Old English typeface was used as the hotel logo

Following World War II, several elegant logos were designed for the
Princess Hotel. Shown here are examples from the 1950’s on beautifully
engraved stationery.

In the 1960’s the Princess Hotel logo was developed in a script typeface shown on the above left. By the 1980’s the word Hotel was dropped below ‘Princess’ and a crown added to ‘dot the i’.

By the time the 100th anniversary of the Princess Hotel came along in 1984, this special anniversary logo was designed.
