One of Bermuda’s best features is the variety of golf courses on the island. Resorts around the world struggle with the ability in providing a product that can accommodate a broad range of golfers from beginner to expert. That’s not the case in Bermuda. With 7 courses on the island, Bermuda can satisfy the needs of anyone including golf as part of their travel experience.

Let’s take a little tour around the island and explore the golf opportunities available to visitors.

On the north shore, Ocean View offers 9-holes with 18 different tee positions providing the opportunity for 9 or 18 holes. Ocean View is a short drive from downtown Hamilton.
Across the harbor from Hamilton is the beautiful Belmont Hills Golf Club. Belmont was recently renovated and favors the more accurate golfer as opposed to the power player. Belmont Hills is a challenging layout and has a great staff available to provide guests the service they desire.

Continuing towards the Parish of Southampton, all golfers will enjoy the Riddell’s Bay Golf and Country Club. The oldest course on the island, Riddell’s Bay was built on a 600 acre peninsula. The course is golfer friendly and has outstanding views as well as a variety of risk reward golf holes.

The Fairmont Southampton Hotel is just across the road from Riddell’s Bay and boasts a golf course on site. The Fairmont course is an 18-hole par three course. Golf Digest honored the course as one of the top 100 par three facilities in the world. A great facility for beginners!

Heading west, our next stop is Port Royal Golf Club. A Robert Trent Jones design. Port Royal recently completed a significant renovation and hosted the 2009 PGA Grand Slam of Golf. PRGC will also host the 2010 event. Golfers will use every club in their bag on this course. Don’t forget your camera. The 16th hole is the most photographed hole on the island and offers golfers a 235 yard shot with tee and green resting along the Atlantic Ocean.

Reversing our direction towards the airport, golfers should plan to play Tuckers Point Golf Club. Tuckers also recently completed a course and clubhouse renovation and both turned out to be spectacular. Tuckers Point prides itself on personal service.

Next door, the Mid Ocean Golf Club sits proudly as one of the world’s top 100 courses. The course has hosted some of the world’s most famous dignitaries. Robert Trent Jones added his touches to the course in 1953 and today golfers playing Mid Ocean find themselves enjoying the cliff-side views of the ocean while trying to manage the magnificent layout. Golf is available to non-members on Monday, Wednesday and Friday only.

No matter your playing ability, the courses will meet your needs while their staff provides the best in Bermudian hospitality. Even if your game isn’t tour ready, the memories will last forever.
